Some of you might know us for our work on various television programs or the commercials you see on social media. However, at Motion Blur, we take pride in offering one of the largest casting databases in Malta. Over the past few years, we’ve built an extensive collection of potential cast members for any production or project. Our database spans a diverse range of individuals—across all ages, nationalities, appearances, voices, heights, and more. It continues to grow, catering to everything from small-scale commercials to large-scale cinematic productions.

Earlier this year, a marketing agency approached us to create an ad campaign for APS Bank. The brief was to produce four distinct commercials, each 30 seconds long, with a fifth one that would tie them together by having all the characters deliver the same message. The goal was to highlight how APS Bank helps individuals achieve their dreams and goals. While the project was well thought out from a conceptual standpoint, we were sold on how fun and creative the campaign promised to be.

A few months ago, the Malta Book Council entrusted us with producing a video documentary about the prolific Maltese author Trevor Zahra. He is one of the most popular authors on the islands and for most of us, our first book in Maltese was one of Trevor’s.

Motion blur has embarked on a new project, Storja ta’, a new television series that tells the life story of persons over the age of sixty.

The Malta Chamber of Commerce and Malta Enterprise have entrusted Motion blur with a new television series. The name is l-Intrapriża. It is a series of 13 episodes airing every Thursday on Tvm news+. Well-known personality, former news anchor and journalist Keith Demicoli is the host and co-producer.

Malta is a popular location for producers from all over the World, not least for Hollywood producers. The ever-growing list of Films, Tv series and adverts that can vaunt the filmed in Malta tag are testament to that.

Admittedly, not all adverts, not all material we produce have a clear good cause. Well, most often it is for a good cause, we believe that helping entrepreneurs reach more of their target audience, reach more people they can help, is a good thing. We don’t work for firms, organisations or individuals that cheat their customers.

Christmas is a special time of the year when most people are usually somehow nicer. For years, Christmas time has also been synonymous with great commercials, the kind that people enjoy watching and sharing. The John Lewis adverts immediately come to mind, of course, and at motion blur, we always look forward to their next instalment. Thanks to them and several others, Christmas time is surely an interesting time for commercials.

The first approach we often get is someone asking for a quote. Now how should one ask a media production house for a quote? Just today we received a quote asking for two videos of between 15 and 20 minutes, just that. When we or any production house receive a similar request we are at a loss. It might be that whoever is asking for such a quote has a very clear idea of what she or he has in mind, but if they do not write at least a brief down, nobody else can know what they actually want.

We have recently wrapped up a project we had been working on for about two months. The final work resulted in four 30 second adverts aimed at raising awareness on mental health, particularly anxiety. Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, through the agency Communique, commissioned us for this job. It was one of the several jobs on which we partnered together.
